This season the majority of our boys teams will be competing in 6 tournaments (and not in a local league).
The reasoning is:
1) As the program director my no. 1 objective is to help our players to develop. To do this most efficiently we want as
many close, competitive games as possible. Little is gained from winning easily or being beaten badly.
Tournaments offer far more levels for each age group than any of the local leagues. Therefore my belief is that having
our boys play in tournaments will lead to far more close, competitive games.
2) A typical league program guarantees 6-9 games per season. By playing in 6 tournaments our boys will be
guaranteed 18 games per season!!
3) By not having games EVERY weekend it gives us all time to rest …. families to have more time together and players
to rest, recover from injuries, etc.
4) We are aware that the potential downside of tournaments is the travel. To alleviate this we have chosen the
location of the 6 tournaments carefully:
• Sep 22-23 Gamepoint Fall Classic (San Marcos)
• Oct 13-14 SGV (Anaheim)
• Oct 20-21 Open Gym (San Marcos)
• Nov 3-4 Team Nikos (Ladera Ranch)
• Nov 17-18 SOPAC, (Corona)
• Dec 8-9 JV (Anaheim)
How will this effect pricing? Previously we have charged players $495 plus $60 per tournament. For this season the fee
of $680 will include the 6 tournaments (and practice twice per week as before).
We hope that you agree there is a very positive change …. lots more games, lots more competitive games and lots more
free weekends to rest and recover!
